    Google Panda and Google Google Penguin - What's That?

    Google Panda and Google Penguin
    Google is the leader in the online world and is breaking new ground in the internet search. Google owns almost 2/3rd share in the industry till this time. Today Google is the biggest company present on the whole web! Google updates its search functionality very frequently almost more than 10 times in a day. Since the past 4 years, some fundamental changes have been spot in Google's search model. Just like it was only two years ago that the Panda and just one year ago when the penguin were unleashed onto the cyber world! Since the very first day these algorithms were released, they have become a very hot SEO topic.

    These names really do give out a friendly image about the algorithms. But they are not friendly at all! They have punished and penalized a great number of websites and blogs. But the question is that what are these about and how do they effect websites?
    Google Penguin and Panda Series
    Part1: Google Penguin and Google Panda Penalty - What's that?
    Part2: How To Recover From Google Penguin Update Penalty?
    Part3: SEO Strategies To Recover your blog from Google Panda Update

    Why are these Algorithms Essential?

    If all these updates are about something, they're about Search Engine Optimization. SEO is good because of it, you can take your website to a better level and make it rank even higher in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). But in particular, that is where the problem exists. It gives a shortcut to the webmasters where they can just pass over creating quality content, and still be able to take their low quality content to a higher ranking.

    Since the day it was born, Google has been continuously improving its whole search algorithm, but Google's every update was dodged by black hat optimizers no matter what Google had to throw at them. Basically, these black hat SEO techniques defeat the basic goal of Google, which is to provide quality content to readers, instead of webpages that spam the web and gain high authority in the SERPs. Hence, an advanced spam screening and filtering mechanism was required which would filter out spam and let quality through.

    Google's spam filter

    So basically, all these algorithmic updates are released for delivering quality and filtering out spam.

    Google Panda

    Google released the Panda on Feb 24 2011. Without wasting even a second, the Panda immediately made its mark and hit so many websites and blogs shaking the entire ranking structure. New websites started gaining ground in the SERPs and some old websites started to come down. According to Google, the Panda was indented to filter "low quality content". Since its launch, Google have made changes to it 25 times. And a total of 12% websites and blogs have been effected by this algorithm.

    Google panda

    Google Penguin

    Google Penguin was introduced on 24th April 2012 to the online world. It aimed at penalizing spam websites with link farms, hidden content, keyword stuffing and copied content. Since its release, it has effected a total of 3.1% blogs and websites. Before its release, Google said;

    In the next few days, we’re launching an important algorithm change targeted at web spam. The change will decrease rankings for sites that we believe are violating Google’s existing quality guidelines. We’ve always targeted web spam in our rankings, and this algorithm represents another improvement in our efforts to reduce webspam and promote high quality content. While we can’t divulge specific signals because we don’t want to give people a way to game our search results and worsen the experience for users, our advice for webmasters is to focus on creating high quality sites that create a good user experience and employ white hat SEO methods instead of engaging in aggressive webspam tactics.

    Google Penguin

    Panda and Penguin Penalty

    Once again, these updates are aimed at punishing spam websites, although there could be a lot more reasons for the updates to hit your site. A picture speaks a thousand words. So for a way better explanation, take a look at the images below,

    Google Panda

    Google Penguin

    Google Penguin

    Google Penguin

    Why have you been effected?

    The exact reasons of why any site or blog got hit are known only to Google. Google does not give out any kind of technical knowledge about its algorithms, because if they do, search engine optimizers would try to become successful in cheating Google once again. So Google doesn't reveal all the details, thank you very much. Here are, however, some causes as to why you took a hit.
    • High keyword density / Keyword stuffing - Blogs and websites with high keyword density call out loud to search engines; "check me! check me!". And search engines hate it when you call them out loud. Search engines consider this practice as a form of spamming. It was 10 years ago in the past when pages were ranked by number of keywords and keyword stuffing was a good SEO practice but not anymore. Never forget that.
    • Lack of good user experience - Google has been giving a hell lot of importance to this lately. Pleasing the search engine is one thing. Pleasing the visitors is another. Even if your website has proper SEO, if it lacks good user experience then it's the reason why your hit.
    • Over optimization - Now this is crucial. Websites lacking quality content are just over optimized. So it is better to do what is important, and just create quality!
    • Duplicate content - People think it is a lot easier to copy content than actually creating it, but it makes things more harder. You see Google not only hates plagiarism but also penalizes the website. So never ever try to copy something from another source.
    • Virus and Malware - No one likes a website that infects their computer with viruses and malware. Hosting malware on your site, or even having spamming scripts can trigger the alarms for Google.
    • High Bounce Rate - Slow loading blogs and websites often have high bounce rate as they are hated by both people and Google. Reduce site loading time as much as possible by reducing number of advertisements and other heavy scripts and graphics to make sure your sit is way more faster. Don't even make the page look dull and grey. Be smart and yet creative!
    That's all we had to share today. Some more detailed posts of this series are awaiting you where we are going to discuss reasons for failure, how to avoid them, and best practices. Give us your feedback in the comment section below. Peace and blessings! :)

    Ramadan Kareem Mubarak 2013 To Everyone!

    Ramadan Kareem 2013The holy month of Ramadan is on us so lets use this great opportunity and wish all our readers a Happy Ramadan Kareem 2013, which is a month full of love, peace, tranquility, forgiveness, blessings and refrainment from all our self desires. It is 12th July today,  a time in the lunar calendar when Saudi Arab is holding their Third Fast and people in Pakistan and India are holding their second Fast. This is our 1st year of celebrating Ramadan with Blogosphere. Ramadan is the only month when we dedicate our full time to worship and also in serving visitors with interesting tutorials and widgets for their blogs.

    Importance of Ramadan for Muslims

    Ramadan has immense significance in the life of every Muslim. It is the ninth month of the Islamic or Lunar Calendar and it  is the holiest of all months. It is the month when the final revelation came down in the shape of Holy Quran. All Muslims believe that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is the last messenger sent to mankind and Holy Quran is the last of the Devine revelations which came down in Ramadan.

    "Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as guidance and clarification to humankind, and a distinction between right and wrong. So, whoever from among you witnesses the month should fast it." (2: 185)

    A night which is amongst the last ten nights of this month which is called Laylat al- Qadr and it's termed as the Night of Power when Quran Kareem was revealed for the first time to the Muslims. The following are 5 verses which were first revealed on Mohammad (PBUH):

    "We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power: And what will explain to thee what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand: Peace!...This until the rise of dawn!" — Sura 97 (Al-Qadr), āyāt 1-5[5]

    Laylat al- Qadr is the night which every Muslim searches for like he is searching for a wealthy treasure. Those who are fortunate enough to worship in this night will be rewarded an everlasting place in Heaven.

    Why Muslims Fast?

    Jews fast on 10th of Tishri, Christians in Lent Season, Hindus hold upavaasa and Muslims hold fasting for a complete month in Ramadan. Fasting is an important part of many religions but the Muslim Way of fasting is completely different from all others. In Islam Muslims are forbidden to all sorts of drinking, eating and even taking medicines. The Muslims are strictly guided to avoid all sorts of useless discussion, gathering and talks, unethical acts and just dedicate all their time to worship because the aim of fasting is to get yourself closer to Allah and not to waste it in sleep and entertainment.

    Happy Ramadan!

    We are pleased to announce that we have got more than 700 readers in just 6 months and this means a Heaven for us. MBT is feeding a small online community since 2013 with delicious tutorials on web development, blogging and SEO. If there is anything that gives me more happiness then it is seeing every MBT reader turning into an entrepreneur. We will continue educating new teenagers to the best of our knowledge.

    Ramadan Kareem Mubarak to all of you pals. Wish you peace and blessings! :)

    Blogger Threaded Comments For Custom Templates

    blogger threaded commentsA little time ago, we had shared a tutorial on how to enable Blogger's most awaited feature of threaded (Nested) commenting system. The method we shared only worked in official blogger templates but didn’t work in other templates created by un-official designers. More than 70% blogger blogs use un-official templates and as this feature can't be opposed by anyone therefore Mohammad Mustafa Ahmedzai of My Blogger Tricks took some time to install this feature in custom blogger templates after a lot of efforts. Let’s get to work and install this amazing feature then!

    Credits

    The codes and stylesheets provided below are copyrights of My Blogger Tricks. I you wish to share any of these with your friends or readers, then please link back to this blog and My Blogger Tricks as the only favour in return.

    Install Threaded Comments in Custom Templates

    Just follow these steps carefully,
    1. Go To Blogger > Template
    2. Backup your template
    3. Click Edit HTML
    4. Search for this code,

    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
      <b:include data='post' name='comments'/>
    </b:if>

         5.  Replace it with the code below,

    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;static_page&quot;'>
             <b:if cond='data:post.showThreadedComments'>
               <b:include data='post' name='threaded_comments'/>
             <b:else/>
               <b:include data='post' name='comments'/>
             </b:if>
           </b:if>
           <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
             <b:if cond='data:post.showThreadedComments'>
               <b:include data='post' name='threaded_comments'/>
             <b:else/>
               <b:include data='post' name='comments'/>
             </b:if>
           </b:if>

         6.  Save your template
         7.  Done!

    Visit your blogs and you will find a Reply link along with a delete link below each comment. Clicking the reply link will open the comment form just below that comment so that you could post a threaded reply. It will work just perfectly :)

    Customizing Threaded Comments

    After enabling threaded comments in blogger, the new commenting system with override your previous styles. Your template will include the following CSS code which will be automatically inserted by blogger,

    <b:includable id='threaded_comment_css'>   <style>
    .comments {
      clear: both;
      margin-top: 10px;

    Top Ten Easiest Ways for Student to Make Money Online

    Make Money OnlineAs a student, your options for working can be pretty slim. If you can’t find a job, then you have to fight for one. For a cash-strapped and busy student, that means finding money, putting in applications, and waiting for the interview. If you do get the job, you have to fit into your school schedule, which any student will tell you is a job in itself. Just like everyone else, though, students need cash. Where’s a student with limited time and even limited financial means going to find the cash they need?

    The answer might be right under your nose or rather under your fingertips. Most students use their computer for social media and research, but few understand the power of the computer as a potential source of income. Technology has opened up several legitimate job options that students can profit from with relatively little or no work experience. As an added plus, these jobs are designed to fit your schedule; not the other way around. These jobs are also easy to apply to. In fact, some jobs can be started within the next 5 minutes. All you have to do is know where to find them.

    To give you a head start, here are some of the easiest online jobs that are available right now:

    1. Survey Taker

    Whether you are taking or creating one, just about every student is familiar with surveys. Why not get paid for your participation? To be sure, there are plenty of scam options (as there with any online job), but there are legitimate options out there. Completing surveys won’t make you rich, but it can put a little more coin in your wallet or purse. Skip the urge to hop on Google and search for “survey jobs”. Instead, look for websites and bloggers who do reviews of survey and work-at-home opportunities. Avoid those surveys that require a fee or require detailed personal information within the survey.

    2. Freelance Writer

    There are literally thousands of companies that need content for their websites. The Internet is 24/7 and content needs are ever increasing, so there is a constant need for people to provide content of all types. Writers (especially those who know a little SEO) should have no problem finding wiling clients for their work. Before you get started with providing content, honestly assess your writing skills. Look over your assignments in the past years and identify what you are passionate about. If you determine you might be a decent writer, write a couple of samples or choose a sample of your previous writing for a writing portfolio. You will need these files for your application. There is content on just about every subject, so try the below links and you don’t find one that matches, check around on the Internet.

    3. User Tester

    Companies need beta testers (people who test software before it is released) and user testers (people who serve as the consumer’s voice) to provide opinions and test their software out. This isn’t steady work, but it can provide a few bucks here and there along with some practice if you are a Computer Science or IT major. The more skills you have on the computer obviously the more tests you will be able to. If you have an iPhone, app testing is another option you might want to consider.

A cost-effective way for them to do this is through contracting virtual assistants. If you have administrative experience (either paid or volunteer), access to Microsoft Office tools, and an incredible gift of organization, this might be a good option. Document your successes and achievements to make a competitive portfolio.

    6. Social Media Assistant/Coordinator/

    Just about every business is either on social media or thinking about going on social media. Many business owners don’t have the time or expertise to use social media, so they often outsource some or all of their duties associated with it. If you have skill managing social media accounts and developing a presence on social media, serving as a social media assistant or account manager is definitely a career option to consider.

    You have to demonstrate your skills in order to get the job. Use your own social media statistics as proof or you can detail the work you have done for others. Social media analytics are key component in the hiring process. Have you helped promote a message for a business or for a non-profit? Detail the results. Do you have a large social media following? Detail what you did to get that following.

    Develop a portfolio of items showcasing your creativity in a lot of different ways! If you are working for this first time, use material from earlier projects or develop on spec (meaning develop a sample on your own.)

    8. Tutor

    Where there is education, there will be students. Where there are students, there will be a need for tutors of all types. If you have the time and academic experience, there a couple tutoring jobs out there. Most companies, but not all, require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree for consideration.

    Avoid the ads you see for online tutoring jobs at incredibly high amounts and steer toward those established tutoring companies like Tutor.com and ConnectionsAcademy.com and online programs established by state education boards. How To Connect Two Pages To Use Google Search Box?

    Create Google Search Box
    The best way to provide easy navigation to your visitors is the Google Custom search engine for  blogs and websites. The best advantage of this search box is that it helps Google index pages of your blog easily and quickly into its database. The reason behind this is that all those pages searched and saved by this search box are automatically indexed and added to Google by robots. This search engine was recently introduced and it became so popular that posting on it became a must. This search box exactly looks like Google's official search box. You can see it towards to top right corner of our site. If you insert a query inside the box and hit enter you will land on a different page where results are displayed.

    You would have seen that we have a whole new page where the search results appear just to provide a our users with a lot more flexibility. You may have noticed that when the Search Results page loads, everything on the sidebar including the search box disappears and instead you then see a search box inside the top of the page. You can also create a search box like this by connecting two pages. Just follow this easy tutorial.

    Note: Before you start, you must create a custom search engine. Read the detailed tutorial published on it:
    Google Custom Search Engine Series
    Part1: How To Create Custom Google Search Engine?

    Note: Follow this part only to create the box, stop where it tells you how to add it to blogger. We will learn how to add it by connecting two pages in today's tutorial.
    Part2: How To Connect Two Pages To Use the Google Search Box?
    Part3: How To Make Money With Google Search Box?

    Choosing the style

    We suppose that you have read Part1 of this tutorial mentioned above and you are ready to connect two pages to use the search engine you just created.
    1. Go To http://www.google.com/cse/manage/all
    2. Choose the search engine that you would like to edit.
    3. From the left menu choose "Look and Feel"
    4. For layout choose "Two Page"
    5. Now click Save & Get Code
    6. Now don't close that tab and open a new tab and follow these instructions,
    • Go to Blogger.
    • Click Pages from the list menu.
    • Create a new page and give it the title "SEARCH RESULTS"
    • Leave it blank and click Publish.
    • Now visit this page and copy its URL.
    • Done!
             7.  Go back to the first tab where you have the search box code.
             8.  Now click on the button which says Search Results Details and paste in the first box the URL of the SEARCH RESULTS page. See the screenshot below for our page,

        Search Results Details

        In the second box where you are told to specify query parameter embedded in the URL of search results, you can use the default one i.e, "q" or you can replace it with any other name or your blog's short name.

             9.  After filling both the boxes, click "Save"
            10. You will see a big box containing a code for the search box. Go to Blogger > Layout > Add a Gadget and then choose HTML/JavaScript. Paste it inside the widget and drag it to the top-right position of your blog's layout as shown below,

        Position Search Box

            11. Now click on "Next: Get code for search results". Copy the code from the box that appears and got to your SEARCH RESULTS page inside blogger and paste this code inside the HTML editor section as shown below,

        Search Results Page

            12. Simply hit the Update button and you are all done!

        Now go to your blogs and play with that million dollars worth search engine on the right of your blog to see how search results appear :)

        Hide the Search Box and Social Networking Buttons

        If you want to hide all the buttons, widgets, ads below title or the sidebar then you may like our detailed tutorial on controlling widget display in blogger:

        Releasing Notification Bar for Script disabled Users!

         Notification bar for Script Disabled Users
        I managed to develop many creative widgets this month out of which I will be sharing just one for this month. The widget that I am going to share today is very different from all the other widgets. Almost all blogger blogs lack this amazing NoScript Notification bar widget that is shown when a user has JavaScript disabled in his browser. This way the user will be notified that it is safe to turn on JavaScript for your blog and that your blog appears better with JavaScript enabled.

        Copyright

        All these widget codes are the copyrighted property of My Blogging Tricks. Bloggers and developers are hereby advised not to sell or redistribute the widget codes without permission. You are also instructed that if you want to share this widget with your readers then kindly link back to this page. Any copyright infringement will result in your blog getting reported to Google DMCA.

        What's Special in this Widget?

        JavaScript is a client side scripting language so many people turn it off for security purposes. So this notification bar works best by grabbing the readers attention and helps you to focus the readers towards turning on JavaScript as it is safe to do it for your blog.

        This widget is made from pure HTML and CSS so it is compatible with all the major browsers including, Chrome 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and above, Firefox 1, 2, 3 and above, IE 4, 5, 6, and above, Opera 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and above and Safari 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and above.

        Each and every element of this notification bar is well structured and can be configured easily. This notification bar provides far better design flexibility and you can easily change its theme and look to any type of color you want. This notification bar doesn't affect site load time. You can change it in any way you want that may perfectly blend your layout.

        And if any help is required, I will be always be available to help you on this page.

        Installing the Notification Bar on Blogger

        Advanced Multi Tabbed Widget For Blogger – Fully Bloggerized!

        Multi Tabbed Widget Blogger A very beautiful, attracting widget that I came across was the Multi Tabbed Widget scripted by Barelyfitz and stylized by Lawny Designs. This widget was worth sharing with all of you but it had a problem. This widget was not completely widgetized and you were not add any official blogger widgets to it unless you have their codes with you. I had carefully modified Barelyfitz and Lawny's codes to make it easily work in blogger. If you need a demo, then you can already see this widget hanging on my sidebar.

        MULTI-TABBED-WIDGET
        The widgets are arranged number wise. Starting from Tab-1 and ending at Tab-4. To add a gadget/widget to any tab simply click the link Add a Gadget and start adding whatever you want.

             7. Finally view your template to see it hanging! :)

        Reposition the Multi Tab Widget

        In this part of the post, we will discuss how to change the position of this Multi Tabbed widget.

        Changing Position:

        To shift this tabber widget to the extreme top of the sidebar rather at the bottom section do this,

        • Paste the code in Step#5 just above <div id='sidebar-wrapper'>
        • Save your template and go to Layout > Page Elements  to see if it has shifted to the top.
